A great area to stop and stretch your legs. There's a lot of areas to walk around and explore right there and all of it is so picturesque. If you plan on hiking on the rocks, it might be a good idea to bring some gloves along because that granite seems to scrape the skin away from your fingers fairly quickly 🙂

Found ourselves during our mini-moon almost completely alone on a perfect fall day on needles highway. It's a magically experience you feel right in your soul. A slow drive, with the windows down, pulling over to take in views that make you feel like the only two people on earth. My absolute favorite part about the hills and South Dakota. Found a birch tree forest and stopped to take pictures from the ground up into the trees. Be sure to exit past the Playhouse instead of the south entrance. It's just as magical. Black Hills in the fall is the best time for needles highway, because you don't content with all the traffic. Enjoy! We sure did!

Must stop or drive through if you are in the area. It's nice when it's the slower season, so you don't have to wait long, as only 1 car can drive at a time. It only takes about 25 seconds to drive through slowly, as it's not very long, so take your time to embrace the wonder of this structure. Pretty neat to see in person. Parking is very limited on one side, so crowds can make this area hectic.
