So beautiful! We were there in mid-September. Easy access, just a handful of concrete steps down to the falls (not a hike). The falls lead into a little river that you can play in. Technically there’s a swimming hole, but there’s a sign that says there are underwater hazards and that you shouldn’t swim. I opted to veer off the steps and climb over to the lefthand side of the falls so that I could lay in the waterfall itself, and I loved every single millisecond of it! Can’t wait to go back the next time we’re in the area!

Great waterfall with no hike required other than a few flights of stairs.
Waterfall is beautiful and has a swimming /wading area down below. It was great!
Very little cell phone service anywhere in the forest ...like nearly none. Can't make phone calls is the vast majority of the park including sliding rock.
Parking is quite tight to get to the falls. I really recommend coming early as it starts to fill up after 1030.

My wife and I recently visited Looking Glass Falls within the Pisgah National Forest, and it was an experience that reminded us of nature's grandeur and raw power. The moment we stood at the base of the falls, we were enveloped by the grandeur of the scene. The sound of the cascading water, the mist in the air, and the sheer volume of water tumbling down the rock face—it was all awe-inspiring.
The cooler temperature meant fewer visitors, which allowed us the luxury of solitude to fully absorb the beauty around us. This tranquility made the experience even more personal and serene. However, a word of caution for those planning their visit: the parking situation can be a bit chaotic. Drivers often make U-turns in the middle of the road to leave their parking spot, so a heightened sense of awareness is necessary when navigating this area.
The descent to the falls is facilitated by well-maintained steps, which are quite manageable. There's even a bench halfway down for those needing a brief rest or a moment to appreciate the scenery from a different vantage point. This thoughtful addition shows care for visitor comfort.
One practical note: ensure you use the restroom before heading out. Looking Glass Falls, while stunning, is very much a roadside attraction without the amenities one might find at more developed sites. There's no restroom or ranger station in close proximity, so plan accordingly to avoid any discomfort.
The natural beauty of the falls, the tranquility of the forest, and the ease of access for a relatively intimate experience with nature make this a must-see for anyone traveling through the area.

Beautiful falls! Easy to access, busy but found parking easily. Just a few stairs down into the platform. You can view them from above too but if able, you’ll want to come down. There’s a bench to sit or take photos. If you want a closer look you have to go through some rocks, which might be tricky if slippery or with dogs/children. So plan accordingly and wear good shoes. It’s not too tricky though, I managed to do it. Lots of dogs and families there.
