Kelly Park - A Hidden Gem
Kelly Park in Apopka, Florida, is a beautiful and serene spot, far exceeding the experience we had at Wekiwa Springs State Park. Everything here is nicer, cleaner, and much less crowded. There’s plenty of parking, and the park offers great facilities for picnics, gatherings, and grilling. They even have a small artificial beach with sand for kids to enjoy, as well as volleyball courts.
The real highlight is the crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. You’ll find plenty of people floating in their tubes and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere all day long. The only difference compared to Wekiwa Springs is that Kelly Park doesn’t offer canoeing, but that’s a minor trade-off for the overall better experience. We had a fantastic time, and the $3 entrance fee per car (for two people) is a great deal. Highly recommended if you're looking for a peaceful and enjoyable day out in nature. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit today.

Super nice spring. A little small but definitely kids friendly. Water was fresh and shallow so you can even walk. But there are rocks so make sure you have swimming shoes. Bring your float or get one from the convenience store at the light right before you go in the park. Perfect natural lazy river. And no alligators 😊

Update: Returned a few weeks later and park was open but not for swimming due to alligator activity. Then returned again in Sept only to have them shut down all swimming and day use activities near the water, due to "lightning in the area." I never saw any lightning and barely heard far off thunder but it sure did clear out the crowd. Concessions remained open to take your money but we were never able to dip even a toe in the water. Disappointed but now I know more about what to expect.
Original review: Loved the vibe here. Absolutely gorgeous FL springs to float or swim. We saw a baby and mother deer and a baby gator while floating the river. So lush, green and crystal clear water. Concessions were great too! Great day on the water.

My sister & I (in our 60's & 70's) absolutely loved it! We rented inner tubes (you have to get them at a bar & grill outside the park & make sure they will fit in your car, they are big) & we floated along the cool/cold, clear spring on a hot summer day. It was divine! It only takes like 10 minutes to float down to the bottom, so we just kept walking back up & doing it again like a couple of kids! LOL!
