If you're an experienced skate skier and have never been to Eldora, you may be in for a surprise when you show up to trails that haven't been groomed. Thus, you'll be powder skate skiing (which isn't a thing), or it'll be an ice rink. This is because if they do groom, they do it the night before using the snowcats from the downhill area. If it does snow that night, skate skiing for that day is pretty difficult. Or, if they receive no snow, they just won't groom at all for days, creating hard and icy conditions. Basically, it's clear that upper management at Eldora is only willing to maintain cross-country skiing at the most minimal level, one where skate skiing can be a pretty poor experience, even though you've spent $50 for a day pass or $530 for a season pass - easily the most expensive Nordic pass in the world!

Ok at best. They make no effort early season to open, even when upper loops have snow and can be accessed from the bunny hill. Grooming has proven to be inconsistent, but good when done. Kilometers of trails are very exaggerated (they count non groomed and forward and reverse). Too bad it's treated as an after thought by management.

First time XC skiing - had a great time. Ken our instructor was great, staff was great, etc. Process from arriving to rentals to lessons was super smooth. Only "complaint" I'd say is that the trail signage probably needs improving, because we got lost AF skiing around after the lesson. But getting lost is just more time skiing, right? For those complaining about trails not being groomed...they seemed fine to me. Maybe you just suck at skiing? #GitGud

Not a great Nordic center for those who are newer to XC skiing. The green trail you have to take to reach other trails (17th Ave) felt more like a blue trail and not beginner friendly. There is also only one Nordic track on the two way trails which seems like something they could include given the price of entry. Often the Nordic track would disappear on the hills which is seemingly when you would want it most. The atmosphere is beautiful but I did not care to listen to the house music that they blasted at the ski lodge - which can be heard for a good portion of the trails we did.
