Sliding into Joy: Snow Tubing at Moonshine Mountain

In the quiet folds of western North Carolina, there’s a spot where winter’s magic turns thrill into tradition: Moonshine Mountain Snow Tubing Park. This isn’t your average tubing hill. No, here the mountains don’t just call—they roar, echoing with the laughter of riders rocketing down the slopes. It’s a place where adventure is unapologetically simple: a hill, a tube, and gravity doing its thing.

Moonshine Mountain claims a unique charm. It’s home to the steepest snow tubing slope in the state, a slick runway of snow that challenges even the boldest adventurers to test their limits. As you approach, the crisp air is alive with the sound of whoops and cheers, a symphony of joy that makes even the most cautious feel brave. The slope itself gleams under the sun, its carefully maintained surface ensuring maximum speed and a smooth ride—well, except for that heart-flipping bump halfway down.

First-timers might find themselves gripping the tube a little tighter, hearts pounding as they launch into the abyss of white. Veterans, however, embrace the chaos, spinning, laughing, and testing creative ways to make the descent even wilder.

But Moonshine Mountain isn’t just about the thrill—it’s about community. The rustic lodge at the top of the slope offers hot cocoa and a roaring fire, a perfect spot to swap stories of the day’s wild rides. It’s where strangers become friends and families share moments that don’t need a hashtag to matter.

Practicalities matter too, and Moonshine Mountain keeps it simple. The park provides tubes (leave your sleds at home!) and organizes rides efficiently, so you spend more time on the slopes and less in line. Affordable ticket prices and friendly staff make it a standout in the region.

Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or just looking to try something new this winter, Moonshine Mountain delivers. It’s not just a snow tubing park—it’s a portal to unrestrained joy, one exhilarating ride at a time.

This is the coolest place nestle back in the small mountains just outside Asheville. It was of course not snow weather but they blew lots of snow for families to come and enjoy themselves. It was busy but after checking in we only had to wait about an hour to get in line for tubing. They had plenty of snacks, a fire pit, suspended bridge overlooking the slope, and a BBQ food truck to enjoy while you wait. Things seem to really run smoothly here. If you live close or from a far and come this way drop by and enjoy yourself! $40 for two hours.

This is some down home country fun! What’s better than some fake snow on a big hill?? Ages 3-9 all had a great time! Run as well a private snow tube place could be run. Cash only, ATMs on site. We got there 15 minutes to open and the wait was already two hours to noon. We almost left but decided we were there so we got comfortable. Brought some lunch and snacks and hung out by the base of the hill. Kiddos had a blast waiting, plenty of little activities and nostalgic playground equipment. Ended up getting on early at 11:40. Tube lift is fun, but normally a long lines so we walked up more often than riding up. Can ride as many as four at a time on individual tubes. Great fun - would go again!

Nice little place for some fun snow tubing. They only take cash but you have plenty of warning & they provide an ATM on site. Tubing was a decent price because you need a reservation so the lines aren’t too long. The rope lift back up the mountain is nice with varying lengths of waiting depending on the traffic of the tubers. Plenty of kitschy statues for charm. Outhouse bathrooms. Hot cocoa, tea, coffee, & cider were available for $2 a cup. A couple fires were going to keep warm. Great mix of music playing.
