Pico Island, part of Portugal's Azores archipelago, offers a distinct blend of volcanic landscapes and rich maritime culture that sets it apart from other Atlantic destinations. With Oh! My Cod Tours, the 5-day culinary trip on this rugged island becomes more than a food tour—it’s an immersive journey into the island’s heritage and natural beauty. Known for its dramatic volcanic cones, vineyards growing atop black lava fields, and fresh Atlantic seafood, Pico presents a uniquely fertile ground for gastronomic adventures. During this trip, guests visit local farms, artisan producers, and seaside villages where traditional Azorean recipes are rediscovered and celebrated. The volcanic soil nurtures unique crops, while the surrounding ocean provides a bounty of octopus, limpets, and tuna—ingredients that anchor Pico’s culinary identity. Beyond just tasting, this tour offers insightful interactions with chefs and locals, revealing centuries-old fishing and farming techniques preserved on the island. Oh! My Cod Tours breaks away from crowded tourist routes, focusing on intimate group settings that foster genuine cultural exchange and slow travel rhythms. Participants can expect easy strolls across lava stone walkways, vineyard terraces, and quaint harbors, balanced by relaxed evenings sampling local wines from the nearby Verdelho grape vineyards.
