This Learn-to-Multihull course uses stable Laser Darts to teach rigging, helming, trapezing and seamanship across 12–15 hours over 2–3 days. The quiet harbour and predictable side-shores make it a smart site for first solo sails. Goa’s coastline bears layers of history—centuries of Indian maritime trade and Portuguese navigation—so every tack feels tied to a local seafaring story. Geologically the coast is a low-lying fringe against the Western Ghats; currents are tidal and seasonal, with monsoon swells from June to September.
Local culture is as much about the ocean as it is about spice and rice; fishermen still haul nets from smaller coves and beach shacks serve fresh catch when your training ends. Instructors are RYA- or national-level, and the program finishes with an Aquasail Yachting Academy Certificate of Competency—useful as a stepping stone to club sailing.
Practical notes: arrive hydrated and sun-protected, expect hands-on drills on beach and water, and be prepared for repeated short launches and recoveries. Safety gear, rescue boat cover and walkie-talkies are provided; basic swimming ability helps confidence. Time your visit outside the monsoon for calm water and fuller training days, and use the hotel discount on food and rest between sessions. By course end you’ll be rigging and steering a multihull within harbour limits with steady, coach-backed independence.
No — the course is designed for beginners; instructors teach rigging, basic theory and on-water skills from the ground up.
Families and younger teens can participate but check the operator for specific age limits and parental consent requirements.
On completion you receive an Aquasail Yachting Academy Certificate of Competency, useful for local club sailing progression.
The dry season (November–February) offers calm seas and cool mornings; avoid monsoon months (June–September) when training is disrupted by heavy rain and wind.
