A cool spray lifts off the river as the group clips into harnesses and steps toward a narrow limestone throat. Wolf Canyon unfolds in a sequence of waterfalls, chutes and natural pools where walking, sliding and controlled jumps carry you downstream; nothing is compulsory and guides line every obstacle for safety.
The canyon runs through the folded limestones typical of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, carved by seasonal torrents over millennia. Locals historically used the valley for watermills and small orchards; today canyoning is a seasonal way to read the landscape’s geological story—strata, potholes and plunge pools carved by repeating floods.
Expect Mediterranean light on sheer rock faces, the scent of pine and rosemary on rim trails and the occasional call of river birds. The course begins with two introductory waterfall abseils on a tributary, then moves into the Wolf riverbed where guided jumps up to 10 m, slides and swims are interspersed with easy canyon walking. The full loop is about three hours on-site, with roughly two hours in the canyon and a short walk back to the vehicles.
Practical guidance: wear the supplied 5mm wetsuit, closed footwear with good grip, and leave loose valuables behind. Be prepared for cold pool swims even on summer days and follow guide instructions on jumping and descent technique. This half‑day option is designed to introduce families and mixed-ability groups to canyoning while offering optional adrenaline for experienced participants.
This course is family‑friendly; operators typically accept children who meet minimum age and height requirements—confirm when booking and disclose ages and weights.
No—jumps are optional and guides provide alternative routes or walks around obstacles for participants who prefer not to jump.
Water can be chilly even in summer; guides supply a 5mm neoprene wetsuit (two‑piece), helmet and harness with descender.
Trips are often cancelled for heavy rain or high flows for safety; the operator’s policy allows refunds if cancelled at least 24 hours prior or due to unsafe conditions.
