Cacapon State Park is situated in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, near the town of Berkeley Springs. The park is known for its stunning vistas from the peak of Cacapon Mountain, which rises over 2,300 feet above sea level. The park covers more than 6,000 acres of rich forest and offers a range of ecosystems, from dense woods to open meadows. Historically, the land was used by Native Americans as a hunting ground before European settlers arrived. Today, visitors can engage in hiking, fishing, golf, and more. The park's unique name derives from the Shawnee word for 'medicine waters', pointing to the nearby warm springs. Apart from recreational pursuits, the park is also home to diverse wildlife and serves as a crucial habitat for many bird species.
