Eagles Nest Wilderness is a designated wilderness area within the White River National Forest in Colorado. Covering approximately 133,496 acres, the wilderness is characterized by its dramatic peaks, including several that are over 13,000 feet, dense forests, and pristine alpine lakes. Established in 1976, the area was set aside to preserve its spectacular landscape and diverse ecosystems. The wilderness is home to abundant wildlife, including elk, moose, and black bears, as well as a variety of plant species that thrive in its varied terrains.
