Visitor Tips

  • Best Time to Visit
Early mornings provide cooler temperatures and vibrant lighting for photography, especially from October to April. Avoid midday hikes in the summer due to intense heat.

  • What to Bring
Pack sturdy hiking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. A small backpack and camera are also highly recommended. Love Hikes provides essential guidance on what to carry for your specific tour.

  • Getting There
From Las Vegas, drive northeast on I-15 and take Exit 75 toward the park. It’s about a 1-hour trip by car.

My husband and I have been coming to Las Vegas for about 19 years now. We always try to do something away from the hustle and bustle of the strip. It was between this and red rock canyon, I’m always glad we choose this! We have done this hike twice now, most recently March 2024. Let me start by reviewing March 2018. We were picked up promptly by John at our hotel, it was just my husband and I with one other female. He was so nice and kept the conversation going for the hour long drive. We learned a lot about the history of Vegas before we even arrived at our destination. While entering the park, we saw big horn sheep, and that set the pace for the wonderful hike to come.I have awesome video of the sheep. Its a photographers dream, the landscape is just divine!Be sure to stand high on the cliffs and look around to capture the whole view, they are spectacular! John shared great personal stories of his hikes and was very informative about the valley. We enjoyed getting to know a little bit about him as we hiked. We did the moderate tour and John made me feel completely at ease, and safe. It was such a perfect day, we didn’t see a single person until the end. It felt as if we had the whole park to ourselves! These sights are not to be missed!!! I highly recommend this tour and I have been telling everyone I know about it. John was amazing!!! Fast forward to March 2024 and we were picked up by Sarah and this was a hike of 9 people. We were greeted with the most spectacular blue skies that day which made for better photos than the first time around. Sarah was fun to be around and very knowledgeable about the area considering she is a fellow Midwesterner. She kept the conversation going and shared wonderful Vegas history, and we’re Vegas veterans. She kept us engaged and entertained. We got to see some baby big horn sheep as we entered the park. While some of the hike I recalled from the first time, Sarah took us to some places that I didn’t recall from the first hike where got some of the most magical photos! She kept the pace moving and I would love to do the intense hike with her the next time we return.Sarah was simply AMAZING 🤩 1-3-5-9 Sarah is one of a kind! (She will get the inside joke) I loaded photos from the most recent trip since those photos are way better than the first time around.

When I told my husband I wanted to do this on our trio to Vegas, he thought I was nuts. We both ended up enjoying our trip. These hikes are meant for smaller groups, and our guide Mike was amazing. Very knowledgeable and checked in on us and the others. He took photos and was tons of fun. He said he was on the tougher side for difficulty but was still fun. We did the morning easy hike in April, and the sights were beautiful. They provided some drinks and snacks. We had 2 different trails we hiked. We appreciated being picked up and dropped off at the hotel. We would definitely recommend this and plan on coming back.

We hiked with Matthew in the Valley of Fire this morning. We hiked “off the beaten path” and experienced so many land formations and colours. Matthew offered wonderful information and provided an appropriately challenging hike for our small group. We all need a nap and a massage! Thanks for such a wonderful “walk in the desert”.

Deciding to do a hike with Love Hikes when I visited Vegas was probably one of my best decisions! I chose the morning slot and the moderate difficulty Valley of fire hike. We got an amazing guide Sarah who was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I got to do this activity with another couple who were so nice and made the day more enjoyable. A small group, plenty of attention and care, and viewing the most beautiful Valley of fire was a day well spent. We did the White Domes trail and Sarah's own route as well and honestly without her guidance we'd be lost in this state park. I don't hike regularly but I walk a lot and I was able to do this hike easily. The morning slots are worth waking up for since the park is mostly empty, it's not as hot and you get to see a beautiful sunrise during the drive. It's a one hour drive each way and we spent close to three hours hiking. They provide snacks and water after the hike and stop for a restroom/coffee break before reaching the trail. I highly recommend this tour with Love Hikes as an offbeat activity when you visit Vegas.

This was such a wonderful way to explore the outdoors. I wanted to do something different and had the best time on this hike. I had never been to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park before and it was stunning. We were blessed with great weather and did the hike late in the day so the sun was setting. We saw tons of wild life, deer, birds, lizards, cool insects, and desert plants! It wasn’t strenuous, if anything, it was more to enjoy nature and its beauty. at the end of the hike we hung around the park and the tour guide set up picnic blankets and we all got to sip on beer and wine. What a great way to end a fun hike and have a relaxing time just outside of the city. It was a small group and I left with an enjoyable memory and new friends.
