Hike to Courthouse Falls: The trailhead for Courthouse Falls is located off Forest Service Road 140 (also known as Courthouse Creek Road). It’s a short and manageable hike, approximately ¾ of a mile round trip, with minimal elevation change, making it accessible to almost all skill levels. The path winds through a shaded forest filled with rhododendrons and moss-covered rocks. Along the way, you’ll hear the soothing sounds of the creek, which adds to the tranquil experience.

Last day of summer 2019, the temperature was perfect 👌🏽 the water was so pure and crystalline and refreshing as well, Casandra me and Romeo 🐩 took an easy less than 2 mile round trip walk, and to add a cherry 🍒 on it we were the only people there 😈

See my trail review on Lower Courthouse Falls via Summey Cove Trail. Nice falls - we’re flowing good after weeks of rain in late July. The bridges were slippery over the creeks so watch your step due to the wet conditions - I wiped out on the biggest bridge but thankfully wasn’t injured. Be sure to visit Cody Falls just down the slope to the left as you come back up from Courthouse Falls to Summey Cove Trail (about 40’ from the top of the trail there is a descending trail to the left).

It was 27 degrees out when I started walking up FR-140 heading to Courthouse Falls. The gate was closed so I parked across Parkway Road Hwy 215 and set out. The hike up to the falls from the parking area is around 3 miles one way. Even in January the beauty of Pisgah National Forest is still on display. I can't wait to hike it again in the Spring when life is busting forth in bloom. You cross 4 bridges to get to the trail to go to Courthouse Falls. Once you cross the 4th bridge you turn left and there is the trail to the falls. You can see a foot bridge from the road just before you get to the 4th bridge.
This was my first time here and I was hiking alone. I had some help in the form of a hiking and waterfall guide book so I knew a few things to look for on my hike. Once you get on the trail and start on it you walk just about a 10th of a mile and then the trail starts to curve off to the right. When it does there is a little trail that runs off to the left back towards the way you just came. If you look down there is a rock and on it is a big ole white arrow pointing you in that direction. Ordering you to follow. That trail takes you right to the bottom of Courthouse Falls. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Fantastic hidden swimming hole. When we went there was no one else on the trail. Getting to the trailhead can be difficult - some steep gravel roads. The hike isn’t too long or difficult, there are stairs to the base of the falls. Highly recommend if you’re in the area looking for a quick hike or place to swim.

Soo amazing!! Awesome swimming hole!! Gps took me right there! I highly recommend having an SUV to get up the gravel road. 2 miles round trip, and the gate was closed when I went, but there’s parking beside it! :)
